Information Employers and Psychics See...
AMAZING bit of information.... YOU may be telling the employer how old you are!!
Have any numbers in your email address? Are they the year you were born? Or the month and year you were born? (Or do they even LOOK LIKE they could be the year you were born??)
YOU just told the employer how OLD you are, before they even had the opportunity to meet you.
Now, I'm not saying we should hide our age, I'm 50 years old, in the grown and sexy stage 😏 and rather proud of it!!!
But there's no need to tell an employer that information UP FRONT! Before they've had the benefit of meeting me!
Quick tip for job seekers.... Create a professional email address for your resume, job applications and all job search related correspondences. Save your cute, fun email addresses for your family, friends and store coupons. ( I have one too! About BAKING!)
How we present ourselves is a part of our Personal Brand.
Employers pay attention to these small details.
An appropriate email would be firstname.lastname@gmail.com or firstinitial.lastname@gmail.com
Although it shouldn't matter, employers prefer gmail over some of the older providers. To show that we are current and relevant, if you don't have one yet, open up a new gmail account. It's free, and will prevent you from looking like a dinosaur.
This is one of the easier and simplest ways to improve your job search efforts.
