Sections of Your Resume

Sections of Your Resume

📋Sections of your resume to make the best impression.

➡️Here's the breakdown...

MOST of the time, it will be ✔️summary, ✔️skills, ✔️work experience, and ✔️education, but not always.

🔍It’s always going to depend on your experience, what we need to highlight for this job, and what we want to make sure gets on to page 1.

Be FLEXIBLE in your ability to move sections as necessary as you target your resume for different positions. 🎯

✅Sometimes skills should be at the top, sometimes on the bottom.

🎓If you recently went back to school and earned a relevant degree, or if you are a new graduate with little work experience, education may be moved to the top.

➡️The order then may be summary, skills, education, and work experience.

✅Another section you may have is volunteer experience.

📝 Bullet it out with relevant accomplishments, the same way as your would for your work experience.

♻️Or you may change your sections to read experience (instead of “work experience”) and include volunteer work as well, as long as you are clearly labeling that you were not getting paid for the volunteer work.

✅Sometimes we change the sections to "relevant experience" and "other experience"

✅You can have a certification section, or a technology section, it will depend on your specific experiences.

✅The MOST IMPORTANT thing to remember, is that you are looking to see what is important for the EXACT position you are applying to, and then making sure that your most relevant accomplishments are featured higher up on your resume.
