The Truth About Remote Work
🏡 There are a lot of benefits of working from home, but it’s not all fuzzy slippers and walking desks. Here are some of the common struggles, and how you can handle them. ⬇️
🙁 ISOLATION
This is a biggie for people that work fully remotely. To combat the isolation, make IRL plans with friends or family members weekly. Look up events in your community and join them. Schedule them on your calendar so you have something to look forward to. If possible, occasionally work from a cafe or a we-work environment to be near others, and strike up a conversation with someone.
⏰ ORGANIZATION AND TIME MANAGEMENT
Schedule your day, just as if you were working in person. Know your start time, lunch time, breaks, and finish time. Resist the urge to “do one more thing” before bed, or check your emails over the weekend. Turn everything off when you go to sleep, and don’t check in until the next day. Non negotiable! Instill good sleep habits.
💪 MOTIVATION
Set your alarm and don’t use the snooze button. This starts with getting a good night’s sleep. Get “ready” for your day. Shower, eat breakfast, get out of your jammies and put on a nice blouse. We feel better and more motivated when we look better. Make the commitment to YOURSELF to be your best.
👟 MOVEMENT
For many, working from home means it’s really hard to hit your step goal. Where once you were constantly on the go, WFH has more steps to the fridge than anywhere else. Schedule walks and exercise into your day. Prioritize you and your health. 💗
