📈Upskilling.

Taking courses is great, but there is more to upskilling than getting certifications. Here's what you can do to help yourself ADVANCE in your CAREER or PIVOT to a new field.

➡️Take Classes. Udemy, Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, Skillshare. There are lots of free or low-cost resources. Some offer certifications. Don't forget YouTube!! It's a great place to learn about virtually anything!

➡️USE the knowledge. DOING something gives you the necessary confidence and experience. 🗝️

✅Did you just take an advanced Microsoft Excel class? Yup, it's a lot of effort to start finding a way to using it in your life, but the only way to get really confident is through hands-on practice.
✅Learn about instructional design? Now create projects. For yourself. For friends. For local businesses or nonprofits.
✅This shows an incredible dedication and drive!!! This is the attitude you want to show employers. You didn't just take a class, but are actually IMPLEMENTING IT!!! 💫

➡️Start using Project Management software (because most companies use them.)

✅Yes, abandon the post-it notes and journals, and get comfortable going digital. Even better, get your team to do it as well, so you get super proficient at using the software with others.
✅There is a huge selection of project management software available, and many offer free options.

➡️Look for leadership opportunities. ACTIVELY seek them out and then volunteer to manage them. This can be at your place of work or through volunteer opportunities.

✅Spearhead a project.
✅Lead a team.
✅Organize a launch or initiative.
✅Create something that positively impacts the outcome.

➡️Get comfortable in from of an audience. Public speaking is a major part of career advancement.

✅Lead training or meetings.
✅Join toastmasters

➡️Look to make upskilling a part of your everyday life, not just a class you took.
✅Once you learn it, incorporate it into your life and work.
