Networking Secrets Check-off List
🤝🏻 Networking!
😞Most people stress about networking with people online because, well, generally, they want something the other person has... the job opportunity, information, connections, you get the idea
✅Here are networking secrets that will ease your anxiety, and have you building relationships like a pro.
➡️Know about the person before you send a message to me.
➡️Don't expect them to do the heavy lifting.
👉Seriously. I've had people message me saying, "Hi. What do you do? Oh, that's cool." Now I ALWAYS answer politely, because that's who I am, but I'm thinking....
Hmmmm.... It's pretty easy to see if you spent maybe 10 seconds looking at my profile.
➡️Remember to be polite. You don't like it when people are rude to you or take you for granted.
➡️Say please.
➡️Address the person by name.
➡️Compliment their posts or what they do, before asking for what you want.
➡️And always say thank you, I appreciate you.
🙌And if they respond to you, increase the appreciation!!!
➡️Be direct. Don't expect a back-and-forth conversation from someone you don't know, before asking for what you are looking for.
➡️It's hard to think about it from the other side, but, Hiring Managers, Career Coaches, people in the industry you are looking to transition to, get 100s of messages a day.
➡️Always remember, these are real people you are reaching out to. They are all busy. Make it simple for them, and give the reason why they actually want to help you.
➡️Your Unique Selling Point
👉Would YOU rather do a favor for someone who is polite, starts with good morning, is succinct, lets you know exactly why they are reaching out to you, and thanks you, or someone who skips all the pleasantries, and just makes demands?
➡️Please don't allow your job search frustrations make you appear differently than the warm, polite person you are in person.
✅Remember, they don't know you yet!!
✅As Momma always said, "you only get 1 chance to make a good 1st impression."
✅And how you treat people, all people, is part of who you are and your Personal Branding.
