Quick interview tip: Always turn your phone completely off or to airplane mode during an interview. It’s hard to pretend that the ringing is not coming from your bag!

IF by chance, you forget to do this, AND your phone goes off during the interview, here is how you can handle it to potentially salvage your interview.

1- Silence phone instantly without looking to see who the caller was.

2- Follow up with, “I’m so very sorry. I thought I had turned my phone off. I sincerely hope this doesn’t spoil my opportunity for this position.”

3- Don’t mention it again.
