Nothing is more frustrating than applying to a job that you are overqualified for and getting turned down. Feelings of doubt and insecurity pop up. Thoughts of how am I ever going to get a job if I can’t even get this job, which I am both over educated and overqualified for.
These thoughts are especially difficult for a Stay at Home Mom looking to return to the workforce, because it reinforces the concept (etched into your brain) that no one will hire you with a career gap.
Now for the good news. Great news, actually. Yes. Of course, you can get a job that you are overqualified for. We just need to paint the right picture. It is not understood by all, that just because you were a manager and led teams, that now you want to take an assistant position. The employer has concerns, and I will teach you how to positively address them and demonstrate that you are the best person for this position.
Remember, they haven’t met you yet and don’t know how totally awesome you are.
