Remember This When Networking...

🍯Consider the expression, "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" and how it can relate to networking during your job search. 🤔

🤝When making connections and networking, both with people you know and people you don't, remember to: ⬇️

âś…Be over the top POLITE & GRACIOUS. Nobody is required to make the extra effort on your behalf.

âś…Always phrase your "asks" with "please", "thank you so very much", "I appreciate you" (notice the significant impact in "I appreciate YOU" vs. "I appreciate it."

âś…Be PROMPT in your responses (there is nothing more frustrating for someone taking the effort to help you, and you not responding to their messages for several hours / days).

âś…Be mindful of their TIME and SPECIFIC in your asks.

âś…Compliment them. If you are reaching out "cold" to someone, it always helps to flatter them. Praise their posts, content, career journey. Be SINCERE.

âś…If someone group introduces you to another person that you are trying to connect with, make sure to THANK that person in the group message, so that the 3rd person "sees" your appreciation. And please BE QUICK. The mutual connection is putting their reputation on the line by introducing you.

đź’—At the end of the day, remember that you are connecting with real people. Treat them with KINDNESS & RESPECT. The nicer you are, the greater the probability that someone will be kind in return. đź’—
